The band, who have sold over 100 million records over four decades, won multiple Brit Awards, Grammy Awards, and who have their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, serenaded the crowd with some of their iconic hits, including ‘Ordinary World,’ ‘Save Prayer,’ ‘View to a Kill,’ ‘Wild Boys,’ and ‘Hungry like the Wolf,’ as well as songs from their most recent studio album, ‘Paper Gods.’
Duran Duran were supported by the high-energy Renegade Brass Band, who warmed up the crowd and through their mix of funky jazz beats and signature hip hop overtones kicked off the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival in electrifying style. Renegade Brass Band have played alongside artists including De La Soul, Grandmaster Flash, Public Enemy and Busta Rhymes, and at festivals including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Soundwave Croatia and Boomtown, and have firmly established themselves as a premiere hip-hop brass band outfit. The 16th anniversary of Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival taking place at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre will also see crowd favourite John Legend and Latino icon Ricky Martin set the stage ablaze with their performances at the festival on February 22 and 23 respectively.
