Fancy lazing off in a cool pool-side cabana with a glass of sparkling red after a stressful day at work? Well, then Coco on 8 has the perfect fix for you! One of Media city’s coolest lifestyle lounges, Coco on 8 has the right ambiance to release you from the cares of the day and transfer you to another world, completely.
Situated on the eighth level of Media One hotel, Coco on 8 is a Miami-inspired lifestyle lounge for the fashion-conscious jet set. This is where Dubai’s privileged stop over for chillaxation, enjoy great music and taste the delicious food and drinks.
We visited Coco on 8 on chilled-out Saturday evening. With the night still young, magnificent vistas of the Dubai skyline yonder, fragrances of grape and mint flavoured shisha renting the air, we basked in our cabana enjoying their signature “I am in love with Coco” mix in our hands. The pristine blue lights from the pool and from the buildings towering nearby, added to the overall vibrancy of the setting.
The Drinks
Coco on 8 features an impressive collection of sparkling red, whites, champagne over ice, fruit infusions and cocktails. From Moet & Chandon to Chateau D’Esclans – they have a variety of Champagne, white wine, red wine, rose wine, sparkling wine, innovative cocktails and classic favourites.
On the recommendation of the friendly waitress we tried “I’m in love with the coco”. The drink was a delightful concoction of Malibu rum, Absolut vodka, rich coconut cream and vanilla bitters. Needless to say – we already fell in love with the coco 😊
The Food
For the starts, we ordered California Maki Rolls, Coco Rolls and Quinoa rolls. The Sushi may not be one of the best I’ve tasted, but it was fresh, well-prepared and nice to eat.
The French fries were yummy. We just couldn’t stop munching them.
In the mood for some grills with our drink, we ordered Black Tiger Prawns Skewers. It didn’t disappoint. With the creamy dip they gave along with it, it tasted amazing. To throw in some greens to the spread, we also ordered Raw Zucchini Noodle Salad and grilled vegetables. Both tasted very nice.
The service
The service was impeccable: warm, attentive and nicely paced, particularly from the staff Maya and Neda. They were very friendly and made sure that we were familiar with their lounges top picks in food and cocktails. I must also mention Daniel – the outlet manager who was very warm and helpful.
The Ambiance
As soon as you step into Coco on 8 you know you’ve stumbled onto something a little different. And by different, I mean amazing. Chic setting with extra-cosy cabanas, dim-level lighting, large pool, live DJ, lovely music, full bar, gorgeous skyline, et al. Coco on 8 is the best of all worlds minus the noise and commotion you generally find in any Dubai club. We reckon here the stress is more on quality over quantity and poise over population.
The Bottomline
If you’re looking for a raucous party with everyone you can fit around a pool, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for an intimate evening with a loved one or a bunch of friends, Coco on 8 will satisfy you, in every way.
If you want the pool club experience in a more private setting with people who know how to party in an upscale and sophisticated style, look to Coco on 8 and celebrate every minute of it.
