Dubai Internet City (DIC), the largest technology business hub in the region, marked its 18th outing at the GITEX Technology Week 2017, last week. Leveraging the power of its partners’ innovations, the theme of DIC’s exhibition, The Smarter Journey, offered visitors an opportunity to experience smart, cutting-edge solutions that are set to shape the cities of the future and translate the Smart Dubai initiative into reality.

Bringing several innovations from its vibrant community together under one roof, DIC’s pavilion took visitors on an immersive and experiential journey powered by partners Uber, Canon, Samsung and Visa.

The Family District

Canon’s “Augmented Reality Bedroom” experience automatically responds to the user’s schedule and their way of life. From knowing where you left your wallet, to telling you which outfit to wear that day, the assisted bedroom will enhance your life with by offering tailored guidance as well as changing the room ambience to suit every mood. The Workplace District

Enabling the integration of photo and video content on smart conference tables, augmented reality applications immersed the audience into the presentation and delivered a superior boardroom experience.(Gitex 2017)

The Retail District

Presenting next-generation ideas that enhance the shopping experience through a host of cutting-edge customer service and payment solutions driven by Visa. Visitors at Gitex 2017 had a chance to sit on the Bentley VR car, the first regional prototype, equipped with the ability to order food, fill up the tank and get guidance on traffic or parking via voice commands and a seamless payment system. They had a chance to understand more about the functionalities like being able to communicate with everything around them, sending data to restaurants or petrol stations ahead of your expected arrival.

The Leisure District

Celebrating smart lifestyle solutions, Samsung let visitors of Gitex 2017 experience its fitness wearables to monitor health as well as latest immersive technologies, offering rides on stationary bikes through a virtual park.
